Here’s what’s possible with OptinPop…
Add any content to your popup window: Just type in the url of the page you’d like to show.
Create popup windows on exit: Turn your exit traffic into red hot subscribers.
Create popup windows on entry: When people arrive at your blog give them a free subscription.
Add a timed delay: Give people a few seconds to read your blog before getting their subscription.
Choose the position of your popup window: Center works best but you can also position your popup at the very top of your blog
Lightbox effect: Use the lightbox background shading effect for immediate attention and focus.

There’s no denying popup windows have been around for almost as long as the Internet.
When misused visitors don’t like them, when used correctly they flat out work!
The biggest problem up until now is it’s always been difficult to get popup windows to work correctly with WordPress blogs.
I created OptinPop after spending countless hours trying to get popup windows to work my blog that were created by desktop popup creator applications.
What OptinPop gives you is the ability to leverage the huge popularity of blogs into massive subscriber lists.
I guarantee that nothing can block your message – It’s utterly unstoppable by any popup blocker or website browser…
This software has been specifically designed to use the latest web technology to get around the Google and Yahoo Toolbars along with anything else designed to prevent your popup windows from appearing.
The end result is your message gets delivered to 100% of your blog visitors, 100% of the time. Each time it appears it’s working to build your list or deliver any marketing message you can dream up.
Totally traffic friendly…
OptinPop has been carefully optimized to ensure every single one of your messages gets through. By adding some additional “power” features I’ve made this WordPress plug-in a real “must have” in your blog marketing arsenal.

Authors website | April 2nd, 2009Hi! I downloaded the optinpop plugin from your site but when I unzipped it I got a blank file (size 0k) called “optinpop” and nothing else. What´s the problem?
Authors website | April 17th, 2009Hi Tom, Are you downloading the plugin from this page here…
http://www.bigsellingoptins.com/blog/download-optinpop-wordpress-plug-in
I’ve tested the download link and checked the file and everything is in the zip file that should be.
What software are you using to decompress the zip file?
I recommend using this free software…
http://pkzip.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=59&Itemid=103
Or use WinZip: http://www.winzip.com/index.htm
Here is a list of the files in the zip file…
1. A folder called “optinpop” which includes these files:
2. ReadMeFirst.txt
3. optinpop.php
4. license.txt
5. A folder called “greybox”
If you then upload the entire optinpop folder to your plugins folder then login to WordPress and activate “opinpop”. Only when you enter the ULR to the page you’d like to display in your popup window and then press the “update” button will optinpop begin showing popups on your blog.
I hope this helps.
Authors website | April 17th, 2009I used the inbuilt unzip function in Windows Vista (f***ing windows:) ) and that gave me the empty file. The download worked fine with pkzip. Thanks for your quick reply!
Authors website | April 17th, 2009I cant get the popup to show no matter what I do, nothing happens.
Authors website | April 17th, 2009Hi Tom, thanks for your earlier message, I’m glad you go the zip file unpacked without any problems using pkzip.
Here’s a troubleshooting checklist you could go through to narrow down a solution that gets everything working for you (usually it’s something very simple)…
1. Make sure you’re using version 2.0.2 or higher of the WordPress script. If you’re using an older version of WordPress be sure to upgrade it to the newest version.
Optin Pop is compatible with 2.02 up to 2.7.1 (the newest version of WordPress)
2. Make sure you have the url to a website entered into the field for “URL of the page to show” if you don’t enter a URL in this box OptinPop will not work.
If no popup windows are showing on your blog go onto this next test…
3. Test OptinPop so that the popup windows appear every time on entry.
These are the settings fort this…
[Show on Load] Show to a visitor [always]
Then go to your blog, your popup window should then load every time you visit your blog.
This is to make sure it’s working.
If no popup windows are showing on your blog go onto this next test…
4. Can you check to make sure all the plugin files are in the correct locations on your web server?
Here are the relative paths to the folder that contains the files that power your popup window…
This is the folder you need to make sure you have installed along with all the files it contains…
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox
Then you’ll need to have these files installed within the “greybox” folder…
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/about.html
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/AJS_fx.js
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/AJS.js
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/g_close.gif
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/gb_scripts.js
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/gb_styles.css
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/header_bg.gif
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/indicator.gif
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/LGPL.txt
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/loader_frame.html
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/next.gif
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/prev.gif
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/readme.txt
/wp-content/plugins/optinpop/greybox/w_close.gif
If you don’t have these files installed it can cause your popup windows not to work.
If no popup windows are showing on your blog go onto this next test…
5. Turn off other plugins so that the only active plugin is OptinPop.
If your popup windows begin working then it means that OptinPop conflicts with another plugin you have installed.
The next thing to do is to turn on each plugin one at a time then go and test your blog to see if your popup window appears.
Do this for each plugin you activate until you find the plugin that causes a conflict with OptinPop and prevents your popup windows from working.
When you do this make sure you have OptinPop set up to the parameters of test #2. This way you’ll have the popup window appearing each time you visit your blog.
6. Finally, if none of these work remove OptinPop from your web server by deactivating it from within the plugin area within WordPress admin. Then delete it from your web server.
Once you have all the OptinPop files removed download fresh zip file containing OptinPop from this page here…
http://www.bigsellingoptins.com/blog/download-optinpop-wordpress-plug-in/
Then re-install OptinPop from the new zip file and configure OptinPop with a url and set it to show popup windows every time on load.
If none of these solutions work please let me know so that we can dig deeper into the cause and find a solution for you.
I hope this helps.
Authors website | April 17th, 20091.I have WP 2.7.1
2. I ftp:d optinpop to my cpanel and activated it in WPAdmin

Authors website | May 15th, 2009What is the path of the URL I must enter when setting up the plug in? When I enter the URL of the page I want, it says page can not be found? It’s actually a site and it’s hosted on the same host. Hostgator.
I’m confused now, please help.

Hello Peter thanks for your message. Have you tested the URL by pasting it directly into your web browser?
It could be that the page isn’t working because a) the url might be wrong b) the page might not exist on your server c) your DNS settings for your domain name don’t point to your website.
I hope this helps.
Authors website | June 15th, 2009Hi,
I installed the plugin and uploaded the template. The opt-in window appeared. However, it did not capture the name and email address. What step is missing?
Authors website | June 25th, 2009Hello iPhoneFan, thanks for your message.
The problem is to do with your optin form code. You need to check your form code within the HTML of the page you’re showing in your popup window. I highly recommend you use Aweber… http://brianterry.aweber.com They’re one of the best professional autoresponder services around and make creating optin forms and building subscriber lists a LOT easier.
Authors website | June 30th, 2009hi there,
Thanks for the lovely plugin.
I have tried this, and the only problem I faced is that the popup comes on everypage. Is there a way that the popup should only come on the homepage or maximum 3-4 pages not more?
Also any option to get it at the bottom right of the window?
thanks again!
Authors website | August 27th, 2009Hello Patrik, Thanks for your message.
It sounds like you’re using the free version of OptinPop.
When you upgrade to OptinPop Advanced you can choose the pages the popup widows appear on, you also have more control as to where on the page the popup appears.
You can get the Advanced version here:
http://www.bigsellingoptins.com/OptinPopAdvanced.html
I hope this helps.
Authors website | August 27th, 2009Hello Admin.

Authors website | October 5th, 2009Hello Johan,
When you have an optin form within your Popup window and you want the popup window to close as soon as your optin form is submitted here’s all you do…
Just add this to the “form method” code within your optin form HTML…
target=”_top”
I hope this helps.
Authors website | October 6th, 2009Are there any know conflicts with other plugins and is this version going to be updated to be compatible with WP 2.8.X? I have done the installation and configuration but it does not appear to be working; nothing happens.
Authors website | October 10th, 2009Hi Kerry,
Thanks for your message… there are potential conflicts with other plugins that also use javascript and DHTML.
The best way to find out which plugin causes OptinPop to not work is to run this test:
1. Set up OptinPop to show “Always”. Make sure you’ve also set up a popup window.
2. Turn off all the plugins except OptinPop and check your blog to see if your popup window shows up. If it does then you know it’s a plugin conflict.
3. If you know which plugins use Javascript try turning them on one-by-one to see if they are causing the conflict.
4. Once you’ve tested your plugins running Javascript begin turning on your other plugins each time checking your blog to see if your popup window shows up.
It’s really important to have your popup window set up to show every time otherwise you can’t run this test.
On this blog here we’re running WordPress 2.8.4 and our OptinPop plugin without any problems at all.

Authors website | October 11th, 2009Hi Julez,
Thanks for your message, on this blog here we’re running WordPress 2.8.4 and our OptinPop plugin without any problems at all.
When you set your popup widow to appear on exit it’s triggered when your mouse curser moves into the navigation area of your web browser. To test this try also setting it to appear every time.
I hope this helps.

Authors website | October 11th, 2009I have been through all the questions/answers.
Authors website | October 13th, 2009Deactivated plugins….no help
Im on WP 2.8.4
The plug in works awesome with Mozilla and Safari
It does not work with Microsoft Internet Explorer
the pop up appears, but not showing text.
Never mind……..
Authors website | October 13th, 2009I changed your code to work with AutoResponse Plus.
I need to go back to the drawing board with the code for the pop-up
Hi David, Thanks for your message.
It sounds like the problem is with the page you’re showing within the popup window rather than the popup window itself. If you’re using a CSS layout it could be there are issues with how IE displays the page. Have you tried looking at the page by itself (not in the popup window) within I.E.? I’m just thinking about how you can isolate the problem to get to the root of it.
Authors website | October 22nd, 2009Hi,
I see you offer a feedburner RSS signup form on the page. Would you also include an optinpop for to signup for a free report, etc? How would you juggle these two lists? Do you merge them at some point? I’m trying to figure out if it makes sense to offer the feedburner signup at all.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Authors website | November 25th, 2009Kevin
Lemme download this plugin, searching that type of plugin from long time.
My search ends here.
Thanks a lot to the developer of the Plugin.
God Bless You + Merry X-Mas and Happy New Year
Authors website | December 25th, 2009Hi Admin,
Authors website | January 4th, 2010it installed your plugin in WP 2.9 and is NOT working….is this plugin compatible with WP 2.9? Thanks in advance!
Hi Alonso,
Thanks for your message, OptinPop 2.1 works fine with WordPress 2.9.1
If you’re experiencing problems it might be because of a new plugin or Theme change you’ve made that uses Javascript. Sometimes Javascript in other plugins and themes can cause incompatibility with OptinPop 2.1.
I hope this helps.
Authors website | January 7th, 2010Hi Kevin
Great question!
What I like about Feeburner subscription by email is people are emailed as soon as a new post is made to your blog. If you’re using an Autoresponder like Aweber then you don’t necessarily need to use Feedburner because they have an RSS update email feature built in.
